- We have a barrel churn at home and it is sixteen years old. It is four feet in height and about two feet and a half in breath. The various parts of it are the stand the lid and the handle. On the bottom of the churn there is a little pan in which water can be put. Butter is mad twice a week in winter and every other day in summer. The churning usually takes about twenty minutes and the churn is kept revolving all the time by the aid of the handle.
On the lid of the churn there is a little glass window and when the glass is clear the butter is made. Water is poured in during the churning this helps to break the milk.
When the butter is made the butter milk is drained off the churn and the butter is lifted out with the aid of the wooden dish and made into squares and(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
