The spring removed some hundred yards
And is seen unto this say,
The water in it holds a cure
Thats what the legend say.
But in the cool and grassy deell,
Where the oaks still throw their shade,
The footmasked stone is plainly seen
Where great St. Bridget prayed.Note. ''Sríonóin'' was the original name of towerhill. The story we are told is, the place was densely wooded and a bridle path had to be cut through the trees, - hence Sríonóin or bridle path. I have seen the stone several times on which six cup marks are plainly visible. They are said to be the print of the Saint's knees, elbows and hands. I also saw the spring which is supposed to have removed from Tobar na Bríoda (as the old people used to call it) The water is said to cure a vomiting stomach, if taken from the well before sunrise. Bloodshed is supposed to be the cause of the spring's removal.- Informant
