- Marriages of the present day are not like marriage of long ago. Long ago marriages were celebrated in the houses and at all times of the day also.
Matches are still made here, around Shrove. Monday is thought an unlucky day to get married. August is thought an unlucky month. There were no strawboys in the district. After the wedding they had games.
- About sixty years ago marriages were altogether different to the present time. People were married anytime during the day and mostly in the evening up to nine o'clock at night; very few had gold rings. The priest usually had a ring to lend them until the ceremony was performed. There were no honeymoons or travelling like the present day.
