    Sunday of the month. That next Friday the 6th of July was the first Friday.
    This is what the clerk announced. That two people were to be married and that a collections was being made for them; and anyone who wanted an objection could find it in the sacristy. That the first Friday fell on Monday the 6th of July. That the Holy Father would be married on the first Sunday of the month.

  2. Long ago, there was a carrier in this town, and his name was Darby Norry. Very often he had to take butter to Cork, and bring back certain goods to Kanturk.
    One day he took a load of butter to a butter merchant in Cork. The merchant's store was closed for dinner when Darby called, so he went to the merchants private house to tell he had arrived. He was asked if he would have dinner. Darby said "No, thanks, your Honor", because he thought he would be
