- "The Black Meadow" a field owned by Mr. Ned Carver of Banteer Road, Kanturk, Co. Cork is called "The Black Meadow" because the "Farandoyle Bog" burst and was swept down the river Brogeen, Kanturk and some of it got stick in Mr. Carver's land. Long ago turf was cut there and black earth is still there.
A stream named the "Glosha" rises in the barrack, Sally's Cross, Kanturk and flows through the land of Mr. Carver of Púleen and joins the rivers Allow(continues on next page)- Collector
