  1. In this district which is situated in the townland of Coolageela in the parish of Kanturk, Co Cork, there are two forts, and they are in view of each other. They are circular in shape; and there is a fence of earth around them. These forts are supposed to have been built by the Danes.
There is also a fort around Kilmacow graveyard, and there are seven acres in it.
There is a story attached to this fort. A farmer sent his servant ploughing this fort. At eleven o'clock he was called to his dinner by a girl; he did not go in because he knew it was too early, about a half a hour later he was called again. And so he went in then. When he arrived in the dinner was not ready; so he went in to bed and he never got up again.
