    When Saint Patrick first came to Granard, and stood on this Moat, he looked around him, and immediately his eye caught sight of the Druids followed by the people performing Pagan ceremonies round the well. Going to the well he blessed it, and told the people to "pray to the One True God, instead of to the fountain," and to continue their pilgrimages, and ever since it has been held in great veneration, by all the people of this parish of Granard
    On Saint Patrick's Day every year a great number of people visit this Well
