    Football matches were held long ago in various fields around this district of Granard, Co. Longford.
    There was always one held in Mr Flood's field on the Scrabby Road. The parties were Granard and Mostrim. There was a goal post in the centre of the field and there were from twelve to fifteen players in each team.
