    My daddy says that he heard from his father that long ago in Lake Gowna, in the townland of Purth, in the parish of Colmcille in Co. Longford there was a large flat stone floating on the water, and the people could go from one side of the lake to the other by stepping on this stone.
    It would move off on the water, and they could cross over to Inch Island.
    Saint Colmcille had his monastery on this island, and
