  1. Long ago tea was never used except at Christmas. People were fined if the(y) were known to have tea in their houses as it was considered a stimulant.
    There bread was made on Indian meal. They used to make it with a thing called sowens. This was made of potatoes and a little flour and water. It was kept steeping in a crock and water added from time to time.
    The women used to carry the butter in small tubs on there heads to Mullingar. In Summer the used to bury the cleaves of
