    There were two hedge schools in this district. Essie Finlay was the teacher's name who lived in Clonfad near Miss Brackens. Ned Connor my grandfather used to go to her. The good neighbours used to cut the turf for the teacher before Mass on Sunday.
    Kitty Finn had one in GilforD where she used to live. She had it at a white thorn tree in Reynolds field. The pupils who went to it were Dick Moughan and Paddy Brine and Pierce
