  1. There are three forges in this district. There are two in the village and one about a mile outside the village. The men that work in them are called blacksmiths. Their names are both the same. They are both Egans.
    The trade of a blacksmith is a very hard one. They have to wear very strong black shirts. In the forge all kinds of iron things are made. He shoes wheels of carts and makes gates and pulpers and horse and ass shoes. There is a thing with a sharp stone and a handle for putting points on nails and there is a fire for reddening the iron and bellows for blowing the fire.
