    The fort is circular and is supposed to have been built by early Irish Chieftans.
    The Coolacusane fort was planted with trees in 1847 with many others in the vicinity of Kanturk.

  2. There are many fairy forts in this district of Kanturk, Barony of Duhallow, Co. Cork. There is one at Gooseberry hill, Newmarket and one at Meelin Co. Cork.
    There is a fence all-round each of them and they are circular in shape. There is no entrance to any of them.
