  2. The birds found commonly in my district in the parish of Kanturk, in the barony of Duhallow, in the county of Cork, are, the blackbird, wren, robin, finch, starling, pickapple and sparrow. The sparrows go to some other part of the country when the cold days come.
    The blackbird builds its nest in bushes; and the robin on the side of a ditch; and the wren in a hedge.
    The people tell the boys, that if they rob bird's nests, that sores will come on their skin. They would be also told, that the birds
