  1. There are two fairy forts in the school district namely " lios a coinín" and Poll Mór. Poll Mór is in the townland of laurnamuckla and lios s coinín is in the townland of bloomhuff. These forts where made in a circle of earth from some white-thorn bushes around them. Some old people say that those forts were used as protection during war times when the wanes invaded this country. The old people also say that these forts where also inhabited by fairy's in years gone by. The owner of the land on which these forts are situated never till not interfere with them or cut any bushes that grow around them. The old people say lights were seen around them and that loud talk and laughing were heard. A story is told of a man who lived about a mile from this place. It is said he and his wife were going to a Fort one night with cattle and when
