- Every family has a plot in some grave yard. Our plot in Cross Town where most of our family will be buried. There is a man specially employed as care-taker of the graveyard and when any one of the family dies father pays the care-taker to dig the grave and see that old weeds and nettles do not grow around the grave. After the person has been buried for twelve months a tomb-stone is erected with the name, age, the day and date of the death of the person. Some of the very old people of our family are buried in Saint Michaels grave-yard in the Faythe. This grave-yard is now shut but there is a pattern held on the day before the feast of Saint Michael. On the last Pattern day I went to dress the grave with flowers but it was hard to find it as the trees that were planted when the person was first buried had grown up over the grave.
It was very hard to clean away the nettles and weeds. When we had it clear we cut the grass.- Bailitheoir
