  1. I live in the townland of Prucklish. It is about three miles North of Longford. There are 16 families in it and it has a population of eighty people. During the memory of my father four houses have fallen into ruins. There are two people over 70 years in this district.
Of the sixteen houses fourteen are thatched while the other two are slated.
The names of the people over seventy are Margaret Heaney, Mary Heaney.
Neither of them knows Irish but they can tell stories in English. The houses were very numerous locally in former times. Most of them were built of mud and roofed with sticks and scraws from bogs.
It is said that Prucklish got its name from Bruc a badger and there is an old fort in it.
Tras-scríofa ag duine dár meitheal tras-scríbhneoirí deonacha.
