- Account of great Snowstorm.
There was a very severe snowstorm in the month of February 1907. The snow was from nine to ten feet in depth. It was on the ground for a month. People could walk over the snow, because it had been frozen so hard. Hundreds of sheep were lost and never found. One farmer lost twenty sheep out on the Wicklow Mountains. Other livestock suffered terrible hardships.
Large numbers of people lost their lives in the floods which followed the snowstorm. The country was isolated for months after., Food was transported to the people by air. Afterwards there followed great diseases to both men and beasts. The greatest diseases were the Flu and Indigestion which was the commonest disease.
