Whitehall,
CastlepollardInformant- Mrs Bruton, Ringtown - The names of the weeds that grow on our farm at home are, blood-weed, crow-foot, pressagh, nettle, thistle, dock-leaf, dray and plantain-leaf. The most harmful of them are, the plantain-leaf, nettle, thistle, pressagh and crow-foot.
The pressagh destroys oats and prevents it from growing. The thistle spreads and covers the land and if checked leaves the land useless.
Most weeds grow where land is poor. The dock-leaf cures a nettle sting. The blood-weed stops a wound from bleeding. The crow-foot cures cancer and sore throat.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
