- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)There was a reek of turf outside a house in Faughalstown on that night. The turf was owned by a man named Plunkett. In the morning several sods of turf were blown into a nearby field.
A man named Dermot Murtagh is said to have crossed the lake in the middle of the storm.
Nearly every tree in the woods of Knock Ross and Knock Body were knocked. The remains of the trees are still to be seen.
Thirty-five years ago a very disasterous wind occurred in this district. An iron roof was blown off a shed and a tree about three feet wide knocked.
In the year 1911 there was no rain for at least a month in the months of July and August.
