  1. The Cross of Kells is situated in the centre of the town. It was erected in or about the 12th century. It is beautifully carved with figures of Our Lord's life. Some say that in the olden times men were hanged from the Cross and their bodies were buried beneath it.

  2. The cross of Kells is one of the many stone crosses to be found in Ireland. It is one of the relics of the stone age. It is said that the people of long ago used to adore it as a god, and they used to make a sacrifice every full moon. In later years it was used (to make) to hang a priest. After a while it fell and a new base was put up by Mr O'Ferrall a man from the town. Many people come to see this cross.
