The Danes heard that O'Connor was gone to Kilrush and they made another attack on his home, but some of the Island people saw them coming and warned the Chieftain's wife. She got a large hole dug and all the remaining jewellry was buried in it. The Danes killed the Chieftain's wife. The Chieftain came back and in dispair killed himself. Many have tried to find the gold but when they tried the Chieftain and his wife frightened them. It has been prophecied that no one but a person named O'Connor will get the gold and it is still awaiting the person for whom it is intended.
