Then we hoe between them and earth them up. We spray them a couple of times in July. In October we plough them out with the same plough that we made the drills with. We make pits in the garden, and take out all the small and bad ones from the good ones. When we draw them home, we put all the good ones in a pit. We put the potatoes in a pit. We put the potatoes in a trench about six inches deep. Then we put straw and clay over them, and some thatch of brambles, bedding, etc.

We set about an acre of potatoes every year. We usually have a good crop, and we sell some of them.
First we plough the ground and harrow it. Then we open the drills with a plough.
The manure is then carted out. We leave eleven drills
