  1. Local Poets
Miss Elizabeth Sefton was a local poetess, who was born in 1851, and died in England in 1916 at the age of 65 years. She is buried at Chingford, England. Her home, Harvest Lodge, about three quarters of a mile from Lorrha is situate din the midst of exquisite scenery. The house itself is surrounded by some lovely old tress of chestnut and some believe it is a haunted house. miss Sefton composed some of her verses at her home and they were all composed in the seventies. She composed in English as she new no Irish.
This is one of Miss Sefton's poems:
    "Lines on the Friar's Lough".
The Friar's Lough is a beautiful little lake about half a mile from Lorrha.
The lake is a great resort of the village people in the summer.
    They enjoy themselves boating
