- In Cahirgillamore there lived a landlord named Lord Fermoy. His ancestors were planted there in time of the Cromwellian plantation. All his tenants looked upon him as a very good landlord He gathered very little taxes and it is said that while he was in possession of the lands he never evicted anyone.
In Kilballyowen was O' Grady. His tenants hated him because of his cruel oppressions upon them. The first one to rise out against him was Mrs. Crimmins of the Hill of Bruff. She did not want to pay the money which she was obliged to, by orders of the landlord. His agents went back to him, and told him what had happened. He ordered that she should be evicted and what she had taken from her.
When the agents went to her house she was gone. She had not very much in the house (w) but what she had she carried it with her. She went to live in Kilmallock and there made a hut.- Bailitheoir
