- The late John Enright Coole West Athea was a famous poet, also the Late James O Mahony Coole West and the late John Histon Dirreen Athea. John Enright was born about the year 1852 and he was 75 years when he died. James Mahony was born in the year 1852 and he was 76 years when he died. John Histon was born in 1838 and died at the age of 70 years. They are all buried in Temple Athea Churchyard. They got the gift of poetry through their ancestors, John Enright composed the song called "My Lovely Sweet Coole West" and "the Limerick Hills." James Mahony composed an air to the "Hat my Father wore", and "after the Ball". John Histon composed an air to the "Wearing of the Green" and the "Vales of New Dirreen." They composed their songs in English. All those were able to read and write
