Ar an leathanach seo

  1. How the rock known as the "Blackman" derived its name. Lieutenant Spratt a naval officer was accustomed to visit his brother who lived at Ballyanihan House. During one of his visits he painted with tar on the rock the figure of a sailor dancing a hornpipe. For very many years the figure remained on the rock and in course of time it lost its resemblance of a sailor and became known as the "Blackman".
    This rock was so called to distinguish it from the many other rocks in the locality.
