  1. In the townland of Ballybahallow there are the remains of five forts.
    I The one next the "leasca" was travelled some years ago. Seven forts can be seen from it. Over sixty years ago a little girl of three years was found asleep in it having strayed away from her home which is now Mike Sullivan's. The fort is a mile from where she lived. Mary Carmody was her name.
    II The small haggard at the back of Mrs. Mary Hannon's house was a fort. There is little trace of the fort now.
    III There is a large single ringed fort by the roadside in Denis O'Mullane's place it is in a good state of preservation. Some years ago lime was buried in a kiln built against the circular ditch. When emptying water from the mouth of the kiln after heavy rain, th water flowed away very quickly when thown in a certain place. There is supposed to be an underground passage running in
