    Long ago people used to bury their money and their valuables under the ground, because it would be stolen and this was the only way that they could keep it.
    Near Crookstown there is a castle, which was at one time owned by the McCarthys.
    There is a white thorn briar near it, and under that white thorn all their money and their valaubles are buried and they are minded by a small black man and a bloodhound who had sworn to mind it dead and alive.
    Many people went to look for the money but this black man and bloodhound would not allow them get the money.
    I got this story from my father. The father was bron in Clondrohid, Macroom. He is a postman. Age 46 years.
