  1. Another Song

One fine Summer's day for amusement I strayed, towards a mountain most famous called sweet Sheehy Mór.

This is another song not yet in print. Supposed to have been composed by "Farrel the Rake" who lived in Coosane in olden times. Shehy Mór is a high Mt. some few miles east of this school:-

    (I)
One fine Summer's day for amusement I strayed,
Towards a mountain most famous called sweet Shehy Mór,
To view the grand Plain's all around it I gazed
The Prospect from there it was grand to behold.

    (II)
With heartfelt amazement I stood meditating
In the fevour (?) indication of the young and the old.
Which congregates round this holy plantation
That was blessed by a saint who lived there long ago
You all know in Penal Days when the Saxon and Danes
had oppressed all the natives of Ireland so low.
Into woods and to Mountains our Clergy were routed
In glens and dark caves Priests took their abode,
For they solemnly celebrated devout offerings daily
They fasted and prayed for the salvation of souls
And to profer it more plainly then memory's are there seen,
In solitude places where they used to resort.
