There is one gap in this district - 'Coosane Gap' It is a gap leading from the townland of Coosane into the neighbouring townland of Glouneycarney. A road now runs through it. It is said that 'Carmen' were often robbed at this gap in olden times when returning from Cork after having sold butterÁthanna ins na haibnibh:-
The river in the district if very small & shallow. There are never the less 6 places (stepping stones) where the river is crossed. - At one place the stepping stones are fairly large and irregular in line. It is said that a man names Michael Sullivan from Coomlea (neighbouring townland) came on morning to the river to cross. The water was fairly high and he did not want to take off his boots. He got a large stone and through it into river a foot from bank near where he was. He then got another large stone and stepped on 1st one and dropped then another foot farther over so on until stepping stones were accom.[?]
