- The following account I heard from Daniel O'Driscoll, Dromousta, Drimoleague in 1928. He was then 79 years. He is now deceased having reached the grand old age of 86. He being a cousin I heard at various times numerous traditional stories connected with Drumaleague.
From the top of the rock locally called PAIRCÍN RODGER can be seen Castle-Donovan. The old name of the Townland in which the castle was built was Sowagh.Castle Donovan was the principal seat of the O'Donovan. They came from Bruree in County Limerick and were noted "Gadies" (Gaduidhe). Domhnall na gCroiceann who was a chieftain built the Castle in 1560. It is built on a rock called "CARRAIG na MAIRT. According to tradition the cattle were slaughtered on this rock and that was why it was called Carraig na Mairt.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
