  1. There is hardly a parish in Ireland in which may not still be found great memorials of the past and my parish of Cloontuskert in Co. Roscommon is no exception.
    There are various forts in this district which have all some interesting tradition connected with them but the one I am acquainted with best is Roche's fort which adjoins my fathers farm (Joe Gavigan Weekfield, Kilrooskey, Co, Roscommon)
    There is a seacret passage from this fort to Danesfort now called Lisnaria about half a mile long. My father told me that there was a sheep of James Tighe's lost in this passage so he closed it up and now there is no trace of it.
