  1. In olden times people had many cures for different diseases
    Headache
    For a headache a person tied a string round his head on each Thursday in the week for three weeks.
    Consumption
    A man named Casserly who lived in Gardenstown had a cure for Consumption.
    When a person had Consumption he tied a string on his arm and put a cut under it and let it bleed untill he took a quart of blood from him. He put him to bed and gave him new milk to drink till he got better.
    Whooping Cough
    Any person having the whooping cough was put out and in under an asses legs three times. They also drank goats milk.
