    the fort there is a hidden treasure. It consist of a crock of gold. It is supposed to be guarded by a cat with a nail on his tail and ever attempts to secure the treasure must lose one eye.
    A neighbouring farmer named James Nolan (Weekfield, Kilroosky, Roscommon) deceased - drempt three nights if he went to the fort he would get the treasure but hearing the rumours about the cat he was afraid to go.
    Various stories are told about hidden wealth. A little distance away from Roches fort was an old residence now in ruins the stones of which were drawn away to built a school.
