  1. Once upon a time a boy set out to look for an ass. He got benighted on his journey. He met two thieves. He ran for about a mile and the thieves after him. He came to a little house and he ran in. There was an old woman sitting in the corner. She asked him where he was going. He said there were two thieves following him.
    |She put him in a big cleeve and covered him with potatoes.
    After a while the two thieves came in. "Good night aunt" they said. The boy was very much afraid. After a while one of them asked her for potatoes. She gave them the cleeve and one of them carried it.
    After awhile they began to fight to see which of them would carry the cleeve. They left it down
