    Once upon a time there was a woman who had a son who was twelve years of age and he could not walk or talk.

    Once upon a time there was a woman who had a son who was twelve years of age and he could not walk or talk. One day this woman had a man thatching and she told him to stay in the house while she went to the well for water.
    When the lad heard that his mother was gone to the well he took out bagpipes which he had concealed in the wall and began to play. He made such sweet music that the plates danced on the dresser. When the woman returned the man told her to pretend that she was going to the well again. The woman waited outside the door to see what would happen and when she heard the music she fainted. When she recovered she went to the Priest and told him all he asked her. Was there any bridge across a stream convenient. She said that there was one plank across a stram near her house. He told her to put the boy in a shawl and when she was half way across to let one end of the shawl go and say "There you go
