- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Camphire, Cappoquin, Co. Waterford concerning hidden treasure supposed to be secreted in a neighbouring field. In a corner of the field stands the ruins of an old church ot Teampaillín. Long years ago during the Danish ravages on our country, this church was standing, and the monks, fearing that these heathen plunderers would destroy the sacred vessels, taking spades and shovels, dug a deep hole im which they buried the sacred vessels.
Years later, when these holy men were long since dead and forgotten, a man who happened to be ploughing in this field, hit a large flat slab with the plough. The old people were very superstitious and had great respect for hidden treasure. The ploughman had also heard the story and guessed that this was the spot where it was hidden. Accordingly he turned back the slab as it had been previously and there it lies to this day, the exact spot unknown to anyone, untouched and untampered by inquisitive hands.- Bailitheoir
