  1. Once upon a time there lived a man in Ballina. His name was John Duncan, and he died a long time ago. He used to make dye, and he used to sell it to the people. It was like butter, and when you would put it in hot water it would melt. He would give you any colour you would want. He would not tell anybody what it was made out of.
