They also used to boil rods and skin them and make ropes from the skins. They used to make nails in the forges. They used to fish and hunt at that time. They also used to burn lime.
- Long ago the people used to make candles out of the whites of rushes. First of all they would take the outside skin off them. Then they would get grease and the fat of old cows. They would then clean it and take all the dirt off the rushes. They would then boil the grease, the fat and the white of the rushes. When it would be well boiled they would then make it into the shape of a candle. Then they would make a round hole in the middle of them. They would then put a thin twine in the middle of them.
