  1. The Banshee.
I was working in a place wan
time with a cousin of mine in the
west of the county Kilkenny. I knew the
place fairly well as I often went here
to spend my holidays when I was a
chap. As you know Kilkenny is
a place that is full of fairies, and
raths and banshees, and a great
number of these raths are looked upon
and respected by the people. In fact
some people rise their caubeens when
they are passing wan of these. These
people will by no means plough them
and some won't even plough the field
that they are in, and they wont walk
on them at certain periods of the
    year.
Well these mounds are held in
great reverence. To plough them was
a crime. The man who disturbed or
desecrated them was sure to bring
upon his head the anger and
    vengeance of the good people.
