- (continued from previous page)make a candlestick out of a turnip. They cut off the top and bottom of the turnip so that it can stand. Then cut a hole through the turnip and put a candle in it.
- A few years ago, boys used to play with soakers. They would get a piece of leather or the tongue of an old show. Then they put a hole in it and put a strong cord in it. Put the soaker in water for an hour and get a big flat stone and press the soaker on it and it will stick to the stone and you can lift it and carry it for yards.
