- Jeremiah Dee (60) told me how they used to rope anyone on Shrove Tuesday that would not be married on that day. They would tie them up with a rope and carry them to Skellige. The following Sunday they would be chalked in the Chapel. that old custom has gone out of the country for the last twenty years.(continues on next page)
