    Jeremiah Dee (60) told me how they used to rope anyone on Shrove Tuesday that would not be married on that day. They would tie them up with a rope and carry them to Skellige. The following Sunday they would be chalked in the Chapel. that old custom has gone out of the country for the last twenty years.
