  1. Famous Men
    There was a man living in Machaire one time named Patty Clune who was a very famous jumper. One time he was in the "run" from the police and it was the custom at that time that if the person escaped for a month without being captured nothing would be done to him. After he had escaped for the month he went to Mass on Sunday to Tulla and he walked down the street after Mass with a man named Danny Keefe.
    They stood up talking near a gate and soon they saw two of the police coming. Patty stayed where he was until they were very near him. They made a spring for him but before they were up to him he jumped over the gate which was eight feet high.
