    spot where the trees grew can be pointed out to this day. It is believed it was cut down about 300 years ago, and that the timber of it slice roofs a house between Cootehill and Sherock.
    Colonel O'Reilly's brother made his escape and got safely back to Spain after the Colonel's murder his estate was given to sir Chantes Goute, and from him the place was named Cootehill. Time works many changes. The O'Reillys are not all gone yet but, thanks be ts Heavens, not a descendant of Coole owns as much land as would sud a. lark in the Co Bavan

  2. There are a great many old houses in the district. The most of them are thatched. There are very few of them two storied because if they were two storied they would be very light and it would take a very long ladder to reach up to the top of them.
