   Butter spades are used for this purpose of mixing the water through the butter then salt is now put in to it and mixed well through the butter, the water is pressed out of the butter and it is made into pound rolls, the buttermilk is used for feeding calves and for making homemade bread.

   We have an old churn at home that must be over 50 years of age, it stands three feet high and measures two feet across the bottom and top, then at the crib it is four inches less, it could be churned with a horse or with hand, the dash was a round piece of wood with several holes in it and a long shaft in the centre. There was a hole in the lid for the shaft or dash as it was called to go
