  1. There was a man named Pat Kiernan who lived in the town land of Beagh in the Parish of Killinkere, he died about 28 years ago, he lived to be seventy-eight, he composed songs about the local people.
    He composed a song on "Johnie White head's boar", and another on "Paddy Anthony's sow", who lived beside him.
    He used to sing them at dances and wakes and the people got him to write out the songs for them.
    He had a big tin whistle, and when he began to play it the rats would begin to squeal and run for fear of him.
