False, ranting Satan, I have heard enough
Of your deceitful, low, bombastic stuff.
In all your flights you did not tell
Of your descent and why you fell
You did not tell by verbal word or pain
You were the first invented mortal sin.
Low cunning creatures dead to truth and shame
You have no right created man to blame.
For sin in you was far more heinous than
Ten thousand errors in clay-built man.
You were an angel of superior light
Face to face in the Almighty's sight,
A spotless spirit, all perfect pure
No flesh to tempt, no object to allure.
And yet you fell from that elevated state
By your own pride and sordid self conceit.
Not pleased with all the glory you enjoyed
You have rent yourself and others you destroyed;
Your false deceitful agitating tongue
Persuaded angels to act base and wrong
And joined with you your errors to maintain
When you vainly thought ascendancy to gain;
But Almighty powerful and supreme
Soon terminated your vain, wicked scheme.
He called St. Michael and he bid him go
