  1. Spy, my little faithful dog
A servant true I've found in you
And must I bring you to the bog
    And without pity drown you.
The cruel deed if I would do
    My conscious would upbraid me
In cold blood to murder you
    Who never yet betrayed me.
Oh, no, my little worthy friend
    Humanity entreats me
    Your existence not to end
    Whatever fate awaits me.
I'll not be guilty of your blood
I will not hang or drown you
Oh! God forbid I ever should
See the cold waves surround you.
For the vast treasures of this earth
    You would not deceive me
With potent princes of great birth
You would'nt go and leave me.
