    were heard from one Chapel to another all over the country-side. This roused the people who rushed to the scene of the intended battle armed with every class of rough weapons which they could get. They were determined to sacrifice their lives rather than allow the place of God to be interfered with.
    The sight of those war like peasants as they marched along the roads had a chastening effect on their opponents who wisely decided to forfeit all claim to the chapel gate. Thus ended what was known as the rising of Mullagh.
